9:1-23  I do not use things that I have authority to use although I as an apostle have that authority.  I do this so that I will not hinder anyone from believing the gospel concerning Jesus Christ, and so that I may be someone who works together with God so that people will believe the gospel.

concession

9:1-2  Although, I certainly am free from the obligation to do things just because other people believe I should do them since I certainly am an apostle.  You certainly should recognize that I am an apostle, since I certainly have seen Jesus our Lord, whereby he appointed me to be an apostle, and since you became believers by means of the Lord enabling me to preach the gospel to you.

I understand adding "Although" to the theme statement to indicate that 9:1-2 is a concession to 9:3-23.  However, to add it to the first sentence of the theme statement will require some rewording of the other sentences in the theme statement.  As stated, there is no  sentence to correspond to the 'although' as it is now written.
